“Your camera takes such stunning photos” … Thanks I taught it everything it knows.
About Me
My name is Halima and I am a Caribbean yet Brooklyn born, God fearing creative, mother, educator, &photographer. Also I am a millennial for whatever that is worth.
Ever notice how we “ forget” for a second who we are when asked “ Who are you” or “ Tell me about yourself”. I honestly drew a blank for a moment there. As a woman & as a creative it is very hard to voluntarily put yourself in a box or maybe that’s just a human thing. Anyway you’re probably reading this to see why I am a photographer so ill try to touch on that.
So you know when you go out with a group of friends and had a blast only to realize that you forgot to take photos so you hurry and text that one friend who never forgets to snap a picture if they have some of you? Or do you have a friend who you always ask to take your pics because you KNOW they will drop low or stand on things just to make sure you get the image you want? Looking back I realize I had always been “that” friend. When I joke about it to people who have known me for years they usually are puzzled as to why I didn’t start this journey sooner. I guess I did always hear the “ oh you have an eye” statement but I never internalized it as “ I am a photographer”. There is so much more to photography than just being able to click a button which I learned and continue to learn as I grown in this craft. 2020 made us all take a deeper look into the daily lives we had slipped into and when i came back up to the surface it was clear that it was time to capture moments for people like you.
More often than not I try to lead with love and I LOVE a good candid. Anything else you’re wondering? Ask me on your shoot.
